Our goal is to normalize the presence and contributions of historically under-represented groups in VR & AR.

Making a safe space to learn

The VR/AR Collective was founded in April of 2016. Our work focuses on connecting, educating, and training historically underrepresented groups in virtual reality and augmented reality, with a variety of social & educational events, ranging from workshops and create-athons (our version of hackathons), to informal social mixers and VR demo nights where local creators can show off their work.

“...the Seattle VR/AR scene has this amazing opportunity to be more diverse and tolerant from the ground up than the rest of tech...”

In light of a changing social and political climate, it's vital to maintain safe spaces, educate those who don’t have the benefit of privilege or access, and do the work necessary to make diverse voices heard. Going into 2017, we will be doubling down on our commitment to fostering VR education and skill-building.

Upcoming events

Our organization runs at least one event every month. In addition to hosting our own events & workshops, we also attend and recommend other events in the Seattle area for our members to continue growing their skill sets and their professional network.
